On the site of the former Nantes shipyards, the UNIVERS DES MACHINES DE L'ILE needs no introduction:
- LE CARROUSEL DES MONDES MARINS : : a giant carousel more than 25 m high and 22 m in diameter, with 3 levels of incredible marine creatures from the depths and abysses, and boats as far-fetched as they are fabulous on the surface of the sea.
- LE GRAND ELEPHANT:12 m high! 8 m wide!
The Grand Eléphant carries 50 passengers on its back for a 30-minute trip along the quays of the old shipyards.
From the top, there's a breathtaking view of the former shipyard site and the quays of the Loire.
- THE MACHINE GALLERY: the machinists explain the creations and workings of the creatures, from technology to dreams...
- THE MACHINE COMPANY WORKSHOP: thanks to two 7.5-metre-high terraces, visitors can watch the creatures being built and learn about current projects (l'Arbre aux Hérons: in progress).
- L'ETE INDIEN AUX NEFS :
Every autumn (from the end of September to the end of November) a special programme of various shows (dance, concerts, circus, theatre, children's shows, etc.) takes place in the Nave.
Some shows are completely free of charge, but if you're buying a ticket, the price is limited.
Since 2007, l'ETE INDIEN AUX NEFS has been a real success, with 10,000 to 15,000 spectators attending the various events every year.
